High quality vector graphics for SBML in LaTeX
SBML2TikZ provides automatic generation of TeX Macros to illustrate Systems Biology Markup Language (SBML) graphs. The rendering is dependent on the SBML Render Extension proposed by Gauges et al. and the rendering library is built on the existing SBML Layout Library.
The TeX script generated by SBML2TikZ is a collection of macros for the vector graphics languages PGF/TikZ and can be converted by an interpretor in pdfLaTeX into PDF vector graphics.
The TeX intermediary is useful not only for convenient embedding into TeX documents, it also enables graphics to be modified outside of whatever modeling environments were used to generate the SBML file. As a result, users now have the added flexibility of editing their graphs without changing their model file.
